how do you break traction with ur ride while going for a drift?
me personally i like to clutch kick! :thumb: always works! unless its a open diff :eh:

throttle lock is one of the worse ways to do it most of the time. it's hard on the drivetrain and doesn't promote a smooth slide. i prefer feint most of the time, but i usually just ebrake to initiate, it's the easiest way on a stock car.
The clutch kick is the hardest technique on the drivetrain if used and expect to break stuff if you use it often. However, it is useful if you are lacking power. You will see most, if not all, the lower power cars use this on the pro level. Techniques like the e-brake or braking drift will slow these cars down too much and possibly drop them out of their powerband. Also something to keep in mind that judges are looking for quick/abrupt (but clean) transitions back and forth which can be achieved by using the clutch kick method. An open diff doesnt matter when using it either. It'll work with open or LSD.

wrd, e-brake usually kills the drift for an underpowered car like the 86. it usually works pretty good with semi stock 240's tho, especially V8 powered cars, hehehe.

also, the power over technique usually works pretty well, as long as you have a large runoff area. most cars will have enough power to perform this technique as long as you can countersteer fast enough, and it works even better on cars with heavy understeer. basically it's entering with a high entrance speed, braking right before the entrance, and then mashing the gas, and counter steering right at the same time at the corner exit...practice makes perfect.

the only time i've gotten my car sideways was when i floored it in 1st gear through a turn with bald tires
it was scary :eh: i've gotten the rear to kick out a bit before and just lose traction but having the whole car just slide like it's on ice was just... :eek3:

you pussy lol. the way i got over this fear is by going in the san jac parking lot in my friends 240 and going mid throttle 2nd gear and just yank the e brake let it down a 180 degrees and contersteer then it will whip you around. I would be scared in an s2k those becuase of crashing and expenses :(

the s2k is really hard to drift, it's such a well balanced car, with tons of grip, it's hard to get the rear to swing out.

i drive a teg and on the autox track, i've drifted before (unintentionally of course since that'll get me kicked out). in an fwd, using liftoff throttle oversteer or left foot braking works well.
when you liftoff and/or brake with your left foot to throw your car forward. this will unload your rear tires making them prone to swinging out and will load your front which will allow them a larger contact patch = more grip.
probably not what you're looking for since you may not drive an fwd but it may apply.

ya, just like the miata. of course, one problem could be, because it litteraly has a rear sway bar the size of a toothpick. its gotta be like, 12mm

I think it's 12mm. I've noticed alot of balanced RWD cars don't need large rear bars. Digression: most of the real fast autoX miata guys run a larger front bar. It's not too difficult to initiate a drift in the Miata, but it has a tendency to snap back in place real quickly; that or loop around.
