View Full Version : Can we make a sticky rule here?

Something along these lines...

If you are going to run your mouth about politics in this forum(especially if you are arguining with someone), please cite your sources. It is not the other person's place to prove you wrong, but your responsibility to cite your source and make yourself correct when asserting your opinion in the realm of politics.

Let's try to be fair here. Of course people see Bush as better than Kerry and vice versa. We need to know why and look at the facts together and be reasonable and rational in drawing conclusions from that evidence. Neither one of them are perfect.

Thanks...

With all the arguements going on at once, and the fact that a lot of people loosly use unreliable sources anyway.......I don't think it would work as a "rule".

But I agree 100%.........for credibility, people should list sources.

Well, then we should put a huge ARBITRARY tag on their posts then.

I agree with you and DJ...I dont think a sticky is needed, but ....to use one of your posts for example...not slamming, but a link from a professors website does not at all mean he is credible or printing the truths......I have no clue as to how and judge what is considered right and wrong, true or false in some of the links.......I do know that this is the internet and you cant believe everything you read as fact..crap, look at Moores 911 movie...I saw in here a post from a young reader that absolutely thought it was all true, a real documentary...we all know better, but he didnt, and I guess he thinks star wars was real also..I felt I provided factual links, whitehouse.gov etc and was told it was all bunk, so be it.....whos to be the judge but each person reading.....seriously some of the stuff that was posted was blatant Hooey....some stuff looked credible and wasnt...some stuff was factual and all in all in the end, one has to decide what he/she is going to believe when they read the newspapers/ internet anymore....you and I both know mainstream sites like the washington post and NY times often post their side or their belief instead of the whole or big picture, just like the mainstream media on tv....and their side might get a bit skewed and stray from the real truth......so's, in the end, I'm with ya...just feel its an impossibility.....

If you think the mainstream media is liberal or left-biased, I highly recommend you watch some footage from Operation Iraqi Freedom where they all had reporters embedded and riding along for the explosion shots. I also recommend you see the film Outfoxed. Rupert Murdoch's news mediums reach 75% of the world's population(approx 4.7 billion people).

More info on Murdoch's news empire can be found here... http://www.americanprogress.org/site/pp.asp?c=biJRJ8OVF&b=122948

I understand what you are saying indeed, but its no secret that cnn and nbc are very biased in their reporting of the war and also their politicing and reporting of such, very obvious they dislike bush, or depends on what side of the fence, it seems as if fox does the same, they dislike kerry...I do feel fox does show more of the big picture, or both sides, but still blatantly biased as well in a lot that they do / show......
all of this is no secret and is well known to be fact......

I think that BOTH Bush and Kerry are not worthy of the Commander and Cheif position. My sources are from my brain.

Examples? Have they ever called Bush a war-monger? I've seen Fox News anchors talk shit about Kerry, Liberals, Democrats. They have no credibility in a rational person's mind.

who cares wtf they say its an opinion it doesnt have to be right or wrong thats what makes it an opinion which is why your "sticky request" is stupid nobody needs to prove an opinion to be correct

That's why I don't get my news from a single source. I honestly don't watch CNN any more than I watch FOX News. I read my news and I check their sources when provided.

When your opinion is based on sketchy or incorrect facts, yes I'd like to see the source.
