You guys heard this shiw. THere some plan up in Austin to make all the Freeways in Texas tollways.
A few tollways is alright and so are HOT lanes but all or most of the Freeways becoming tollways.that's illogical. THey say they'll make alot more money that way.
I hope we all get to vote on this so this shit won't pass.
It wont be all freeways.........only the ones they are building now, or upgrading to freeways.
Here's a before and after map......the green lines being new tolls:

Orlando Florida is almost all tolls, look at this map....all the "green" highways are tolls.........the one "red" highway is their only free road:

They will never all be Toll Roads. Usually, toll roads are made to help out people in a certain area or part of town, and in theory, those same people pay the loan back on the construction. The same thing happened here in Houston when beltway 8 was constructed. There was a proposal to raise city taxes and make beltway 8 free but all the people who lived in inner city communities from river oaks to 3rd ward, made a good point that they would be taxed for something that only benefited those in the Woodlands, Katy, Kingwood, Clear Lake, Sugar Land etc.
This also happens often times in cities like Orlando where millions of tourist come in each year. Why not make out of towner’s pay for everything. Orlando even has a toll booth to leave and enter the airport.
Other times they make toll roads to ease traffic when major repairs or widening of certain freeways are planned. Ex. Hardy toll road and 45 North. This allowed people who lived in the Woodlands get to down town in about 20 minutes while 45 N was being mutilated and many times only 2 lanes were open. The same happened recently with the west park toll road. It will allow people to travel an alternate route towards Katy when the night mare of rebuilding from 6-10 towards beltway 8 gets going on I-10.

No shit I've been to Orlanda. Feels liek there's TOll Booth every 3 miles.
And when are they gonna make the Westpark Tolllway open for all potential sustomers. Hey ought to put toll booths along that thing.

Isnt it currently toll tag only? They should LEAVE it that way. Toll booths just cause conjestion.

Yeah buit people whom don't have an EZ-tag can't ride. Therefore out of towners can't ride. THis is the first ever highway liek that...TExas came up with it of course.

Westpark is for commuters.......Tourists usually stick to the main highways anyway. Westpark Toll isn't even shown on most Road Atlases yet.

But see that's goign to hurt buisnesses along the Westpark Tollway. Fewer travlers means less revenue from passing travelers.

Most of the businesses along that route aren't considered "Prime Retail".
Most of those businesses there consist of flea markets, Jewelery Discounters, and Car Repair shops........and most of those businesses rely on local customers who use Westpark Road (not toll) or Harwin road.
