Sup everyone! Gotz a question I need to ask. In my civic, I have 6x9's that have a peak power of 330 and front speakers hold peak 150 each(All 4 are pioneers). If I put a 400 watt amp and connect em to all of my speakers, Would it be too much power or should I be ok? Because in my last car I had a 400 watt amp and suddenly my back speakers at the time totally fucked up and I never really had it up loud. They were some brand called Koiler or some crap like that. But anyways, u think I should be alright with em? I dont want to go over the RMS and be pushing em beyond their limit, especailly the back ones. So let me know on what u guys think. Thanx!

is your amp a 4 channel?? if it is then it should be just enough to push it cause it will only be about 100 watts per speaker.

And to add to that, if it's a mono amp, DO NOT do that.

A two channel you could do it on, front on a channel and back on a channel, but you lose the ability to fade from left and right.

Also keep in mind, peak power means squat in audio equipment, peak is jsut a marketing ploy, RMS power is what counts, because that is what the speakers are designed to take regularly, and your amps RMS power is what it puts out, not the big ass printed PEAK that it boasts. That said, be sure not to over power them...

How would I know if It was a mono amp? Its a four channel amp. So I would guess that I would get 100 plus what the radio is putting out? But I know for sure its not a 2 channel because In my old car, it gave me the ability to fade from the back or front and plus it had the 4 knobs. But this amp that I have is an freakin OLD! But none the less works. Holla back! :thumb:

a mono amp has only one set of output for your speakers, and it is usually 1 ohm.

does it have a crossover built in?...old amps normally don't...so it might not be the bast way togo...you would need to add acrossover...but the after market on those kinda sux...unless you spend an ass load on it....but why do that when you could buy a new amp with a crossover built in?...anywho...have your system tuned by someone that knows what they are do'n and you will be ok...

Ok from what you guys are telling me, I know now that my amp is not mono because it has all these buttons so you can mess with the sound and all that stuff. Its been a while since Ive looked at it since I havent been home from school in a while. But yeah, I know its an old amp. The only reason why I wont buy anything new is because IM BROKE LIKE HELL!! LOL, but I think my back speakers have a built in crossover so I think it would be fine. But I dunno.

your speakers in the back might have capacitors on the hi's but its full range on the mid's...so that won't work...

But with the speakers I have, it sounds good with just the radio hooked up but I just want a little more. NOthing like a 132 db, thats freaking loud. But I just want a crisper, cleaner sound all around.....you know, nothing TOO IMPRESSIVE. :blue:

usually 1 ohm or usually stable to 1ohm?

mono amp is just simply mono:thumb:

it has no Left or Right outputs like multi-channel amps. Left and Right outputs are known as stereo. u simply just get no left and right affects with a mono amp.

the ohm load is the resistans(sp) that a woofer voice coil has
