I figured I'd toss this out there to see if any of you guys would be interested...

Damn, for some reason it's doing a URL instead of an IMG... :(

LOL, unless it is bracket racing I don't see the point...

Saleen91

To be honest I have no idea what kind of racing it is since they don't have any details yet on their web site.

Odds are it'll be brackets.

TurboGSRcivic,

It's in Sealy, see www.lonestarraceway.com. It's a local IHRA 1/8 mile track.

I forsee this ending up with a bunch of pissed off people and keyed cars before the end of the first week.
There's not many import trucks either, I think the idea is just flawed form the beginning :)

Saleen91

I don't follow you? Why would a fun-run type event end up with keyed cars?

Sealy is about 20 minutes west of Katy on I-10. Lonestar Raceway is about 10 minutes west of Sealy on I-10, theres several signs leading up to it.

LSR is an 1/8 mile track..gay and pointless if you ask me. just about the same distance to hrp though for most houston folk. farther for some.

Saleen91
01-29-2003, 01:59 PM
:duh:

Well I can see this isn't going to go very far with you guys. I figured it'd be fun to line up against some Imports at the track and have some fun. Nothing more than a friendly rivalry at a track where you can get more than 1 run per hour (unlike HRP).

One person has talked about keying cars, another has called it "gay and pointless"...

I guess it'll be only the domestics actually racing at the track then.

AWD
01-29-2003, 02:07 PM
dont get me wrong..I think its a cool idea...its just that its an 1/8 mile track..which I think is gay and pointless. IMO..I would rather have it at HRP..full 1/4 baby..1/8 mile too:p

AWD

Saleen91
01-29-2003, 02:12 PM
I agree. 1/4 mile is a LOT more fun... But HRP isn't hosting this. LSR is.

I look at racing 1/8 mile as a chance to practice my launches. It's all for fun anyway.

Turbo_LS_Hatch
01-29-2003, 02:15 PM
I would head out there, but that's too damn far away from Pearland. My 1/8th sucks ass anyway. I need the last half of the track:cry:

Turbo_LS_Hatch

The car probably won't be ready this weekend:cry: I just got paid today from my old job, 2 weeks late. I've been waiting on that money to go buy gaskets, oil, etc.. So I went to 3 different auto parts places today, and no one had anything I needed other than an oil pan gasket. I still need the intake manifold gasket, and an axle rebuild kit. The way it's going, I don't see myself out. I went and ordered the IMG, but it won't be here for another hour or two. Then I can get the engine completely together, and put it in, but without an axle, it'll be kind of hard to drive........unless someone wants to donate a WORKING axle for an LS(I don't see that happening)

I understand where Orlando is coming from regarding 1/8th mile,
I too used to think that I'd never like 1/8th mile.

as it turns out, it's pretty much the same amount of fun, except the racing "goes by quicker".

Instead of slow cars taking 17-18 seconds to make a pass, the slow cars take 11-12 seconds to make a pass.

Granted Lone Star is and never will be HRP.

but.. the people that run LSR are very nice and kind individuals,
they have opened up on a thursday to bring this event to reality.

I for ONE will be supporting LSR with this event.

I understand orlando and respect the fact that he's not a big bracket racing fan.

I'm looking forward to this event, it's going to be alot of fun.

The format will be 4 classes,

Trucks
Imports
Domestics
ATV's {dont ask me??}

There will be four different classes, with the winners of the 4 classes running in a "semi final round"..
meaning...
Truck winner against ATV winner
Domestic winner against Import winner.

then.. a final round of winner take all!

this really sounds like fun...

someone duct tape orlando and toss him in the trunk and bring him out.
Better yet!

Duct tape him to the BIGGEST wing in the club and THEN drive to sealy.

"lil G with the WINDBLOWN look would be priceless!"

If you guys want, post your dial in, find yourself a christmas tree on the net, report your .500's, and the winner can be decided....

remember that when you "beat" an 11 second domestic

I dunno, its much easier than driving an hour for brackets, plus you'll save your motor some wear and tear.:thumb:

Bracket is for pansies..

People mod there cars to make them go fast not consistent. If I wanted consistent I would have bought a metro and gone consistently slow down the track for the bracket win.

BTW. Last time I went to the track I only made 3 passes and all my times were within a thousand of a second of each other.

Thank you. We're giving this guy legitimate reasons why most of us don't wanna run. I don't see how it can be 'imports vs. domestics' when all you're really doing is racing yourself. I'm also so sorry not all of us live 10 minutes away from the track. It would take me FOREVER to get out there as I'm all the way down here in Pearland. I might head out once or twice just to see how it is(I usually don't bash things before I try them)....but the event IMO has the odds stacked against it.

those are all the KEY points to bracket racing.

Baytown is a far drive for a lot of people too. Plus its crowded.

Why can't you all just nut up and show up. You're getting a crack at us domestic drivers and I wanna see what you can do. Import drivers have a bad rep for being very slow and unwilling to race. This is a chance to prove us wrong. I have seen some fast imports but they seem very few and far between.

These are the reasons you should go try this.

1. LSR has IHRA track rules, it is much more relaxed than HRP.

2. The people at LSR work hard to make sure everyone has a good time.

3. A 1/8 mile time slip will still give you the most important info of any race of any distance ie.. 60 ft. and reaction times.

4. Brackets make racing even for everyone, the guy with the most money to spend on his car isn't always gonna win.

5. Try it you may find out you like it. :roflmao:

LSRP's rules and restrictions are a lot more lenient than HRP. I don't think you will need a rollcage at Sealy. I've seen some really fast cars without rollcages there run all day long.

well, I'm still making power at 120mph, but I run out of gear.. and the only gear left for me at that point is overdrive.
